This is an opportunity for the a youth (ages 8 to 18) to have quality time with a telescope, a sky chart with you as their personal guide. You will have the use of a fully-equipped Dobsonian reflecting telescopes located in the Youth Mentoring area, just west of the Activities Tent.
Parents are asked to sign their youth up for a one-hour time slot upon arrival at the OSP Information Tent (across from the Main Activity Tent).
This program is offered for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 9:30pm to 10:30pm and 10:30pm to 11:30pm in the area immediately west of the Main Activity Tent.
Participation will be limited to 12 per evening. There are two sessions each evening, each lasting an hour. Feel free to sign up to mentor just one session, or feel even free-er to sign up for multiple sessions.
Parents are asked to personally deliver their child and meet the mentoring adult at the beginning of their time slot. During that hour, parents are welcome to hang out nearby at Bernie Kuehn’s camp next to the Mentoring area for astronomical questions and just chatting.
