Awarded for 2006

OSP Showcase

You are required to observe and record at least 25 of the 30 listed objects. You must manually control the instrument you are using. You may gain assistance in locating the object on star charts or through someone else’s finder, but you should position the scope on the object yourself. Looking through someone else scope, who already has the object sited in, is not acceptable. While a sketch of the object is preferred, it is not necessary for the level 1 lists, just a very good description of the object.

Oregon Sky 25

You are required to observe and record at lest 20 of the 25 listed objects.

Goto scopes and image enhancers (photography) are permitted. A “LA” (Location Assisted) or “IE” (Image Enhanced) will be put on your certificate and the OSP webpage if either one of these are used.

Dim 'n Dimmer

This list is not for the faint of heart or small of aperture! It consists of nine pairs of objects plus one challenge pair. Each pair contains one “Dim’ object and one ‘Dimmer’ object that is in close proximity to the first object. To successfully complete this observing list you must observe both the ‘Dim’ and ‘Dimmer’ entries on the list. Although not required, sketches of the objects are strongly encouraged. If sketches are not provided you should provide a sufficiently detailed description of the observation that there is little doubt of the positive identification.

As an advanced level list, advanced preparation is required to successfully complete the observations. This preparation includes creating detailed finder charts, researching certain features online, and becoming familiar with the targets on the list. A sketch of each object is strongly encouraged, for any object that is not sketched a sufficiently detailed description of the observation so that there is little doubt of the positive identification. It is recommended that you have detailed star charts available.

Goto Scopes and image enhancers (photography) are allowed, but a “LA” (Location Assisted) or an “IE” (Image Enhanced) will be added to the certificate and webpage entry.
